Every time I tell someone I only eat vegan they ask if I have eaten at LYFE Kitchen. My boss has been asking me for weeks about it. It has become his new “fast food” restaurant. That is saying a lot for this steak lover. Last Wednesday was my birthday and my Dad wanted to take me to dinner. I was in an extremely chill mood so I choose LYFE Kitchen. Not too fancy, not too casual. It was just right. LYFE Kitchen’s menu is very easy to read. The vegan items are marked with a “V” in a green circle. There were several vegan options and I like the fact I didn’t have to choose salad.
I looked through the entrees first. Initially I wanted a flatbread, but the chef let me know that although the crust is gluten-free it is not vegan. The Spicy Vietnamese Lettuce Wraps were second on my list. They are made with Gardein beefless tips, wheatberries, scallions, Thai basil and chile-ginger sauce. They were ah-may-zing!!! I am not usually a big fan of Gardein beefless tips, but the spicy-sweet dressing made them delicious. The lettuce was sweet and crispy. Those wheatberries, scallions and Thai basil were a perfect combination. My Dad and, his girlfriend, Martha each had a bite and loved it. I kept reminding them that it was not real beef. They still liked it.
Martha ordered some sweet potato fries that I indulged in. They were shoe string sized and quite delicious. They seemed to be oven baked which is the way I like them. Crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside.
I would have to say my beverage was the most interesting part of dinner. Pomegranate – Ginger Lemonade. I drink lemon ginger water every morning so I am no stranger to it. But I’ve never thought to have lemonade and ginger. When you take the first sip you don’t get the ginger right away. The ginger is the after taste and it is quit refreshing! I plan on having all these items again.
BTW-I’ve been back twice since Wednesday. Like my boss, it’s my new “fast food” restaurant.
